East Africa
Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda & Uganda
“When going on safari in East Africa, your choices for adventure are limited only by your imagination.”
You can be in Kenya’s famous Masai Mara surrounded by the nearly 2 million Wildebeest and Zebra that make up The Great Migration, waiting patiently for them to cross one of the many rivers that transect the park. Nine months of the year, you may see these herds in the neighboring Serengeti Plains of Tanzania, where the Wildebeest and Zebra head South as they give birth to the next generation of brave travelers.
There is also Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Crater – a World Heritage Site and the world’s largest caldera (imploded volcano with an intact rim) – and nearby Olduvai Gorge, as well as the island nation of Zanzibar, which has a culture and history that is as rich & colorful as the fabrics you’ll find in the old marketplaces of Stone Town. You may head to Rwanda or Uganda to trek the ancient Virunga volcanoes in search of the highly-endangered Mountain Gorillas.
“Embark on an unforgettable adventure in East Africa, think horeseback rides through the wilderness, hot air balloons over the Serengeti…”
In East Africa, you can have a wealth of different experiences, from game drives in 4×4 vehicles through the vast expanses of the Serengeti, which is nearly 6,000 sq. miles in size, to bush walks with Samburu warriors in the equatorial region of Kenya. You can get on horseback and ride through the open wilderness, or even go up in a hot-air balloon, taking in the breathtaking landscapes as the sun rises over what seems to be an endless herd of animals.
Your accommodations can be as wide-ranging as your activities, with everything from large, comfortable lodges with gyms, swimming pools, and even air-conditioning all the way on down to a mobile tented camp, in a basic but comfortable style that evoke the romance of a safari of old, with only the flicker of paraffin lanterns and the Milky Way lighting up your nights!
